A 2023 Student BAFTA finalist in the Video Game category and winner of the 2023 CUSGA Award and CUSGA Excellence in Audio Award, Evan Carcaterra is passionate about his work in film scoring, video game scoring, and songwriting. He is an avid composer, producer, audio director, orchestrator, and lyricist. Evan combines his fluent use of music theory with a large sample library to create a diverse range of film and game scores. Also known as Vancar, his repertoire encompasses a wide range of musical styles including rich and luscious orchestral works, dynamic and immersive game scores, pulsating and percussive action cues, synthetic and hybrid electronic compositions, and humorous and contemplative lyrical songs. Evan recently graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts with honors, where he majored in Film Scoring and minored in Video Game Scoring and Psychology.
Carcaterra worked as an Intern at Igloo Music and for Joseph Trapanese at Blue Bonsai Music in Los Angeles, California. After the internship at Blue Bonsai, Mr. Trapanese hired Evan to arrange music for a Shadow and Bones Netflix event. Prior to Blue Bonsai Music, Evan worked as an Assistant Audio Engineer at TYFY Music Studio in McLean, Virginia and as an Audio Technician and Special Assistant at Bach to Rock in Bethesda, Maryland. Evan is proficient in Pro Tools, Sibelius, Cubase, Logic Pro X, and Unity. He is certified in Wwise. Pursuing his dream to successfully own a music production company, Carcaterra formed Vancar Productions LLC and registered trademarks for the company’s name and logo in the in the United States, European Union, and the United Kingdom.
